Hi Buddies,
This is one of my dad’s favorite stews/ kootu. I learnt this recipe from my mom and it’s very easy to make (even on weekdays !!!). Aashu dislikes dry curries and likes to have dal/kootu/sambar everyday. So, I replace dal/ rasam with kootu some days. This goes well with both rotis and rice (Just love the tangy lemon taste in it !!!). Try out this simple yet tasty recipe!!!

- Transfer the cooked cabbage and dal to a vessel.
- Add ground paste to it.
- Add little water and adjust the consistency.
- Add salt and let it boil for 5 – 7 minutes on medium flame.
- Heat a pan with a 1 tbsp of oil.
- Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves to it. When they start to splutter, turn off the stove and transfer the tempering to kootu.
- Finally, squeeze a lemon (I usually squeeze 2 but you can adjust it to your taste) to the kootu and mix it well.
- Serve it with rice or rotis.
